Craft a Sweet, Tropical Brew With Pink Guava

Add a subtle pink hue to your brew with some pink guava. Otherwise known as the guayaba in South and Central America, this guava tastes like a pear and a strawberry mixed together. It is sweet, earthy, and distinctly tropical.

Guava fruit puree is great on its own, but also pairs well in recipes and adds an exotic kick to other fruits, like strawberries and pears. Adding a little bit of lemon will also accentuate the acidic flavors. As a bonus, it is a true superfruit, boasting high levels of Vitamin C, as well as fiber and other vitamins and minerals.

FAQs

What are the health benefits of guava puree?

Our guava is more than just delicious! With four times the vitamin C of a typical orange, as well as a strong source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, like potassium, magnesium, vitamins B, E, A, and folate. Every time you add it to a recipe, you’re adding a ton of nutrients, too!

How long will this pureed guava stay good to consume?

With our high-barrier aseptic packaging, our purees are protected from bacteria, wild yeast, sunlight, and oxygen, which are all common culprits of food spoilage. At room temperature and sealed, our purees have a shelf life of 18 months from the day of manufacture.

Do you offer wholesale options for guava fruit puree?

Yes! Whether you’re a brewery or a home brewer, we offer wholesale fruit puree with competitive pricing as part of our Brewery Wholesale program. Save on sales tax and be the first to know about tasty new fruit releases from Fierce Fruit!

What does pink guava taste like compared to white guava?

Pink guava has a sweeter, more floral profile than white guava, with distinct notes of pear and strawberry. Its pulp carries a light to bright pink hue, which can add a subtle rosy tint to finished brews. This flavor complexity makes it a versatile base for fruited beers, sours, and ciders without needing heavy blending.

Can pink guava puree be blended with other fruit purees for brewing?

Yes, pink guava blends well with other fruit flavors, particularly strawberries, pears, and citrus. A small addition of lemon accentuates the natural acidity and brightens the tropical notes. Brewers often use this puree as a base flavor and layer in complementary fruits to build a more complex sour or fruited beer profile.

What is a good substitute if a brewery runs out of guava puree?

Apple jam or jelly with a splash of lemon juice can mimic some of guava's sweet, tangy character in a pinch. However, substitutes will not replicate the floral tropical notes or the pink hue this puree contributes to a batch. For consistent flavor and color in fruited beers, sourcing guava puree directly is recommended.

How does this puree's texture compare to guava nectar or paste?

This product is naturally thick, unlike guava nectar, which is a thinner, diluted juice. It differs from guava paste as well, since paste is a dense, sugared block used mainly in baking. Fierce Fruit's version is a smooth, unsweetened puree designed specifically for brewing and beverage applications requiring a real fruit base.

Why does the guava puree ship in 40 lb units?

The guava puree comes in a 40 lb packaging size due to the specific yield and density of this fruit compared to others in the Fierce Fruit lineup. Breweries should account for this slightly smaller unit size when calculating batch ratios or comparing cost per pound across different puree flavors in their production planning.

What gives pink guava its higher Vitamin C content?

Pink guava naturally contains high concentrations of Vitamin C in its flesh and skin, far surpassing citrus fruits like oranges. Fierce Fruit's aseptic processing preserves these nutrients during pasteurization, so the puree retains much of the fruit's original vitamin content, along with fiber, potassium, and other minerals found in the raw fruit.

Is pink guava puree suitable for sour beer production?

Yes, its floral sweetness and acidity make it well suited for sours, where its tang balances the tartness from souring bacteria or wild yeast. Brewers often add it during secondary fermentation to preserve the fruit character. Its natural thickness also helps carry flavor and aroma through the finished beer without excessive dilution.
