Experience the Bold, Tangy Flavor of Tangerine

The tangerine is a citrus fruit native to Southeast Asia and is also known as a mandarin orange. Juicy, zesty, and sweet, the recognizable tangerine fruit flavor is popular in almost all beverage categories.

The tangerine’s powerful aroma is an important part of the flavor experience, and our puree delivers. The beautiful floral blossom aroma is potent and long-lasting. Our puree has become a key ingredient in beverages like tangerine sours, kombuchas, and fruit seltzers.

FAQs

Where do you source your tangerines from?

As a fruit originally from Southeast Asia, we want to highlight the best and most natural flavors in our puree. As such, we primarily source our tangerine fruit from specialty farms around tropical Southeast Asia.

What diets can your tangerine puree fit into?

We take the health and freshness of our fruit purees seriously, and we want everyone to be able to experience our craft! Our fruit purees are certified Kosher, vegan, gluten-free, and produced without GMOs or other growth hormones.

How long is your fruit puree good for?

Like all of our fruit purees, our tangerine product has a shelf-life of 18 months from preparation date, when stored properly in its packaging below 77° F. Opened packages should be refrigerated and consumed within 10 days, or frozen to maintain additional shelf-life.

Is tangerine puree the same as pureed mandarin oranges?

Yes, tangerines are a variety of mandarin orange, so this puree delivers that familiar mandarin flavor in a consistent, processing-ready format. Fierce Fruit sources tangerines specifically for their bright aroma and balanced sweet-tangy profile, giving brewers a more concentrated and reliable flavor base than working with fresh fruit alone.

What beverages pair best with tangerine puree?

Tangerine puree works especially well in sours, kombuchas, ciders, and fruit seltzers, where its citrus aroma stands out. It also blends smoothly with other citrus and tropical purees like orange or mango for layered flavor profiles. Its bold aromatic quality makes it a strong choice for brewers wanting a fruit-forward finish.

Does tangerine puree need to be diluted before brewing?

Dilution depends on the desired intensity and brew style, since this puree delivers a concentrated, potent tangerine aroma and flavor. Many brewers add it directly during secondary fermentation, while others adjust ratios based on batch size and how bold they want the citrus character to come through.

What does tangerine puree add compared to using tangerine juice?

Puree retains more of the fruit's pulp and aromatic compounds than plain juice, contributing both flavor and a fuller mouthfeel to beverages. Because Fierce Fruit's citrus purees are closer to a fine juice with pulp, they still provide a fresher, more rounded tangerine character than juice concentrate alone.

Can tangerine puree be used in non-alcoholic drinks too?

Yes, this puree works well in kombucha, tea blends, and craft juices, not just fermented beverages. Its bright citrus aroma and natural sweetness make it a versatile ingredient for any beverage program looking to feature real tangerine flavor without added sugar.

What makes tangerine a distinct choice compared to other citrus purees?

Tangerine offers a sweeter, more floral aroma than orange or grapefruit, with a recognizable mandarin character that stands out in fruited beverages. Its pulp color and tangy-sweet balance make it a popular pick for brewers wanting a distinct citrus note that differs from more common orange-forward profiles.
