Our Feijoa puree has been described as having “a wonderful mint bouquet with a citrus melon flavor.” It’s naturally sour and, with sweetener, develops a lovely exotic and fruity candy-like flavor. Without sweetener, it can be used instead of lime to add sourness with a tropical twist.

Get Fierce Tropical Flavor with Feijoa Pulp Puree

The Feijoa, also known as the Pineapple Guava or Brazilian Guava, is a fruit that’s increasing in popularity in the United States. It's commonly found in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and New Zealand. Once these fruits have fallen from the tree, they’re in their ripest form, which is the perfect time to harvest them and use them in our fruit purees.

Feijoa creates a floral and tropical puree with a bright, sweet-tart taste. Flavor notes include hints of pineapple, guava, apple, melon, citrus, and mint. Feijoa pulp makes incredible cocktails and beverages, perfectly paired with light food dishes or enjoyed by itself. Some say that when they’ve brewed with this fruit, the beer almost tastes like sour candy, sweet and tart with a big fruit character.

Feijoa Aseptic Fruit Puree Specifications:

  • Scientific Name: Acca sellowiana
  • Otherwise Known As: Pineapple Guava, Brazilian Guava, Guavasteen, Fig Guava
  • Flavor Profile: Sweet and tart like pineapple, guava, apple, and mint — add a touch of sweetener to bring out the full flavor
  • Pulp Color: Light green
  • Shelf Life: While unopened, Fierce Fruit purees can maintain their freshness for 18 months from the date of manufacture. Store feijoa pulp in an environment away from direct sunlight and with temperatures below 77° F. Once you’ve opened your fruit puree, it can be refrigerated for up to 10 days or frozen for the remainder of its shelf life.

Pure Puree Goodness!

This is as good as it gets! Used in a New Zealand IPA. 3 different NZ hops DDH, then added the Feijoa Puree to the secondary. The smell was pure and delightful. Tasted tart and slightly sweet as it should! Delicious.. just waiting on the Brew to carbonate and chill! Going to be amazing I know it! If you're considering it, BUY IT! Highest quality!

Tropical Fruit of the Feijoa

With an apple crumble recipe in mind, I told Fierce Fruit that I was looking for a flavor that would pair well with the sweetness of apples, and they recommended the Feijoa! After I received it, I have to say, I was a little bit skeptical of this puree at first because I’ve never tried this fruit before and the flavor was very sour. But WOW, all of my doubts were erased when I tasted the feijoa apple crumble. My apple crumble usually comes out completely sweet, but with the feijoa puree addition, it had a beautiful sweet & tart flavor that completely elevated the apple crumble! Thank you Dana for the suggestion!

Nice tropical tart taste

This had a nice sweet tart taste that is hard to find. It's good for adding a bit of zest. I like how there's 27% vitamin C per serving
