Curuba
The Curuba is the Colombian cousin of the passion fruit that has only been more recently available in the US. It has an oblong-shaped orange-yellow exterior, containing a vibrant orange pulp. While the interior does have a resemblance to passion fruit, besides being slightly sour, the curuba tastes almost nothing like it. It’s fruity, yet earthy.
In fact, when people try this fruit for the first time in a juice with milk and a splash of honey, it tastes very much like a tart peach with a hint of banana! With that said, the curuba pulp pairs well with fatty, creamy, or milky bases.
